A challenging current event can itself trigger suicidal thoughts and make it hard for people to cope – which is why it’s so important to look out for eachother.

In addition, the following scenarios are also things which put people at greater risk of having thoughts of suicide:

  • Relationships and family problems
  • Bereavement
  • Financial worries
  • Job related stress
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Disability
  • Alcohol or drug dependency (or heavy use)

These situations may not apply to everyone, but they are still useful to know
